You can now upload large images to your site without much hassle. For the people who have been using WordPress for quite some time must know that large images usually cannot be uploaded on the website or blog site but there are at times large images which have to be uploaded and that cannot be cropped or re-sized as they would harm the quality of the picture.
You can now upload large images to your site by fixing them. To fix the image size issue, you would need to add the code given below to the theme’s functions.php file. The code is –
@ini_set( ‘upload_max_size’ , ‘64M’ ) ;
@ini_set( ‘post_max_size’ , ‘64M’ ) ;
@ini_set( ‘max_execution_time’ , ‘300’ ) ;
The basic work of this particular code is to try to increase the maximum file upload size, post maximum size and the maximum execution time limits to the site. But it is also to be noted that this particular code might be very useful for some websites but not for all.
If it doesn’t work, you can add a code to your php.ini file. Now, the code to be copied there is –
upload_max_filesize = 64M
post_max_size = 64M
max_execution_time = 300
Now that you have configured your WordPress to fit in larger images, do not forget to add Envira Gallery or any other photo gallery plugin to your website or blog site so that it doesn’t create any kind of trouble while it takes time to load the images on your website once you open it.
Otherwise, you can optimize the images for the web so that you would not have to change so much coding or even resize the image but you would be able to very successfully upload larger images on your WordPress website or blog site.
